Police ID suspect at Trump's Virginia campaign office

Local police said Wednesday they had identified a suspect in the break-in at a Trump campaign office in the Virginia suburbs outside Washington, D.C.

be Release According to the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office (LSCO), the ringleader of Sunday’s break-in at the Trump campaign office in Ashburn, Virginia, was 39-year-old Toby Shane Kessler.

“The theft occurred at approximately 8:11 p.m. and was captured on surveillance cameras inside the office,” the release read. “LCSO investigation determined that Kessler forced entry through a back door of the office and was inside for a period of time before leaving. He did not appear to leave anything behind and it is still unknown what, if anything, he took. The investigation is ongoing.”

“LCSO is working with other law enforcement agencies to locate Mr. Kessler and is asking for the public’s assistance,” the release continued. “He is a white adult male who was wearing dark clothing, a dark hat and a backpack when he entered the scene. Mr. Kessler has a criminal history and is believed to have been in the Washington Metropolitan Area since at least 2018. He has a California driver’s license.”

The LSCO statement also said it had secured a warrant for Kessler’s arrest.

The FBI confirmed it was opening an investigation after the Trump campaign announced earlier this week that it had been hacked and internal documents had been leaked.

“We can confirm that the FBI is investigating this matter,” the agency said in an email.
