Katy Perry Under Investigation Following Allegations by Ruby Rose
Australian police are currently investigating singer Katy Perry after actress Ruby Rose accused her of sexual assault that allegedly occurred nearly two decades ago at a nightclub in Australia.
Rose, who gained fame for her role in “Orange Is the New Black,” made her accusation public over the weekend, revealing her discomfort in response to a video Perry shared of Rose watching Justin Bieber’s performance at Coachella.
“Katy Perry sexually assaulted me at the Spice Market nightclub in Melbourne,” Rose stated in her April 12th post, adding, “Who gives her exactly what she thinks?”
Rose elaborated further, expressing that discussing female-on-female violence and sexual abuse feels significantly more challenging than addressing male predators. “As a woman, for a variety of reasons…” she mentioned.
She also suggested that Perry could sue her, claiming, “She won’t, because it happened, there are pictures, and it was literally seen by multiple people in public.”
Rose shared that she kept the incident to herself initially because Perry offered to assist her with obtaining a US visa. The situation, at the time, turned into what she described as a “funny drunken story.”
“I was in my early 20s. Now I’m 40. It took me almost 20 years to publicly speak about this,” Rose reflected. “I’m grateful for the time it took to find my voice; this illustrates the long-lasting impact of trauma and sexual assault.”
On April 14th, Rose revealed that she had filed a report regarding the incident that occurred back in 2010.
“As of this afternoon, I have completed all reports,” Rose wrote. “This means I can no longer comment, repost, or speak publicly about these incidents or the individuals involved.” She acknowledged how it might appear she’s ignoring the messages of support but clarified that adhering to police requests is beneficial for her.
“I can now begin the healing process and temporarily move forward. I love you all so much,” she added.
Perry has firmly denied the allegations, with her representatives branding them as “categorically false.” They described Rose’s claims as “dangerous and reckless lies,” noting that she has a history of making serious allegations against various individuals, which have all been denied.
