Los Angeles County Sheriff's homicide detectives are searching for answers after a badly decomposed body was discovered Saturday off a cliff in Rancho Palos Verdes, California.
According to a statement from the police department, a climber discovered the body of an adult on the cliff and immediately alerted authorities.
The body was found several hundred meters below the cliff.
Investigators said the person appeared to have fallen from Vista Point in Dina, where he remained for an extended period of time due to “severe decomposition.”

Los Angeles County Fire Rescue paramedics responded and pronounced him dead at the scene, the statement said.
Officials said the incident was unrelated to the human foot found along the beach last week.

The police department has not released the manner of death, but the case is being investigated by the homicide unit.
Officials told Fox News Digital on Monday that the body has not yet been identified.
