Police officers and off-road firefighters cooperate to rescue a woman from a burning car after a cement truck hit a Nissan pickup, and roll it to explode into flames.
According to Chandler police, the dramatic incident occurred on a US 60-west highway near Valvista, Arizona, before 7am on February 18th.

The two heroes who took action, Chandler police motor vehicle officer Brian Larison and Peoria Off-Duty Firefighter Asa Pagya are marine veterans and are trained for these situations. Fox 10 reported.

Larison, who normally doesn't commute to the US 60 westbound due to Chandler PD, was the first on the scene of a fiery crash.

“The idea that human life will be destroyed by flames. I was just saying, 'We can't make this happen,'” Larison said.
To save the woman trapped in the driver's seat, Larison uses the baton to break the window. However, when the woman began to escape, the truck fell back to all four tires, body cam footage shows.

“Then I saw, and it's an unfair firefighter and he has all the fire delay equipment on, just the right place, the right time,” Larison said.

Paguia was on her way to work at the Peoria Fire Station and had delayed her schedule. He had overtime shifts the day before, so he had fire equipment with him, Fox10 reported.
“Asa had partial overtime shift the day before, as fate had a partial overtime shift, so he had his turnout on the trunk of his car,” Peoria Fire Department spokesperson Brady. Kasson told Fox News Digital via email. . “When the ASA saw CPD officers and bystanders trying to rescue the victim, he quickly put on protective gear and jumped into action.”

Paguia pulled the woman out of the burning vehicle and the two first responders worked together to keep her away from the flame site while fire and EMS resources responded to the scene. The woman was then taken to the hospital where she was expected to fully recover. According to Fox 10, her first call was for her husband.

“The way we operate is that we take a lot of risks to save a lot,” Paguia said. “So I decided that it was risky to drive the patient out of it.”
Chandler police did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital's request for comment.
