The officers are Louisville Police Department The Kentucky State Police (LMPD) has taken “corrective action” after an internal investigation into the arrest of two-time PGA major winner Scottie Scheffler revealed that officers did not follow proper procedure and did not turn on their body cameras.
Apparently this isn’t the first time Detective Brian Gillis has gotten into trouble.
Gillis has been suspended at least three times, most recently in 2013, according to WLKY in Louisville.

In 2013, Gillis was reportedly suspended for five days by the Louisiana State Police for allegedly driving his patrol car through a parking lot and performing the “donuts” dance with an “intoxicated civilian” in the car.
A year earlier, he had been suspended for four days for violating police rules about court appearances, according to reports. Records show he had been reprimanded four times for violating those rules between 2010 and 2011, including two one-day suspensions.
According to the outlet, Gillis “received numerous commendations during his tenure with LMPD.”
An investigation revealed that Gillis did not have his body camera turned on as required during the Scheffler incident and was reprimanded by his supervisor.
Security camera footage appears to have shown a much different sequence of events than Gillis’ account: According to the arrest report, Scheffler was driving a PGA-approved vehicle when officers said Scheffler “refused to comply with commands, accelerated and dragged the officer to the ground.”

However, video footage released to the public shows police officers rushing to Schaeffler’s car as he was entering the golf course, banging on the window of Schaeffler’s car, and Schaeffler was later arrested.
Fox News Digital attempted to reach Gillis for comment through Louisiana State Police on Friday but was unsuccessful.
Scheffler praised the Louisiana State Police, saying, “They’ve been really gracious. We have such a strong police force and they are our protectors and we’re grateful. And like I said, we just found ourselves in a chaotic situation this morning. That’s really all.”
Schaeffler’s arraignment date has been postponed to June 3. However, there are reports that the charges against Schaeffler may be dropped.
