Parents Arrested Following Infant’s Death

Authorities have arrested the parents of a 15-month-old who tragically died after ingesting methamphetamine, according to a recent investigation.

On February 12, 2025, Pennsylvania State Police responded to a call from Michael Thomas Blaser, 34, and Ashley Amber McCulski, 31, at their home in Mount Pleasant Township.

During their investigation, officers discovered that a 3-year-old child in the residence also tested positive for fentanyl, methamphetamine, and cocaine.

Upon finding the infant unresponsive, they transported him to Independence Health Frick Hospital, where he was declared dead.

Conditions in the home were described as “beyond deplorable,” with Trooper Steve Limani noting, “We didn’t observe any edible food present.” The indoor temperatures were below freezing, and the sole heating source, a kerosene stove, emitted a strong odor amid piles of trash and animal waste.

The house lacked running water and electricity, had a hole in the roof, and the temperature inside was a chilling 28 degrees. A mattress showed signs of mold.

Trooper Limani suggested that the child likely consumed methamphetamine through toxic breast milk from the mother. Investigation records indicated a troubling history of drug abuse from the parents, including two previous instances where children were reportedly exposed to drug-contaminated breast milk.

Documents outlined enough evidence to officially charge the parents with third-degree murder, as they may also face charges related to manslaughter and child endangerment.

Another child in the home had also tested positive for illicit substances, adding to the severity of the situation.

Limani warned of a concerning trend involving illegal drug use and its dangers to children’s lives. “When drugs enter the body meant to nurture a child, it can lead to devastating consequences. Unfortunately, that’s what unfolded here,” he remarked.

The parents have each been granted a bond set at $1 million. In response to the charges, McCulski expressed feeling “broken” and claimed to her lawyer that this was her first encounter with the law.

Interestingly, official court records did not attribute breast milk directly to the infant’s cause of death.

Limani concluded with a remark on the parents’ negligence, noting, “They completely disregarded the well-being of their children.”
