“The multi-million dollar drug den looked like a normal apartment building until agents and investigators discovered hidden compartments of various furniture filled with contraband,” DEA Special Agent in Charge Frank Tarentino said in a press release. “Over 12 kilograms of cocaine and over $3 million in drug proceeds have been seized as part of this ongoing investigation.”
“There were large hidden compartments on the dresser, nightstand, and coffee table filled with bags containing cash,” officials said in a press release. “The money was wrapped in bundles and had labels with dates from previous years on them.”
According to a criminal complaint filed by the Special Narcotics Prosecutor’s Office, London was charged with operating as a large-scale trafficker and possession of a controlled substance in the first and third degrees and was held without bail.
“This investigation shows how lucrative the cocaine trafficking business can be,” said Special Narcotics Prosecutor Bridget Brennan. “Through investigative talent, perseverance, and the help of dogs, we captured drug proceeds and stopped millions of dollars worth of cocaine from entering the streets of New York City and surrounding areas.”
London is being held without bail.
