Police take notice of antisemitic event at Barstool Sports bar.

Philadelphia police have started looking into an incident of anti-Semitism that took place at a sports bar over the weekend. A video circulating on social media showed a young woman at the bar with a sign that read “F— Jews.” This video gained significant attention online, prompting a strong reaction from Dave Portnoy, the Barstool Sports founder.

Authorities are currently investigating. A spokesperson for the Philadelphia police mentioned that they are gathering more information about the incident, which happened at the Barstool Bar located on Sansom Street. They promised to update the public once they have more details.

Portnoy took a notable stance by saying he sent two individuals involved in this act to Auschwitz to learn about the Holocaust and its historical context. Additionally, Temple University confirmed that one of its students was linked to this incident and has since been placed on temporary suspension. University president John Frye made it clear that anti-Semitism has no place within the institution, emphasizing the university’s commitment to a welcoming environment.

In response to the situation, the bar’s management released a statement expressing their disappointment and anger about the behavior of certain clients and employees. They noted that two employees connected to the incident had been fired. The management reiterated their efforts to cultivate an inclusive atmosphere and apologized for the actions that contributed to the hate-filled sentiment.
