Chicago Doctor Arrested for Double Murder of Ex-Wife and Her Husband
Authorities have made a significant breakthrough in the investigation of a double homicide involving a Chicago doctor, who is now a suspect in the deaths of his ex-wife and her husband. Michael David McKee, aged 39, was apprehended in connection with the murders of Spencer Tepe, 37, and Monique Tepe, 39. Their bodies were discovered in their Wineland Park residence around 10 a.m. on December 30.
McKee’s arrest took place in the Chicago area after detectives traced his vehicle at a surveillance station located close to the couple’s home. According to court documents, his vehicle “arrived just before the murder and left shortly after.” With this information, investigators were able to link the vehicle to McKee.
In their findings, detectives identified the car in Rockford, Illinois, and gathered evidence confirming McKee as its owner at the time of the incident. He was arrested just before noon on Saturday at the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office, facing two counts of murder related to the case.
Interestingly, McKee’s neighbors expressed disbelief at the news of his arrest. Jera Lind Kolarik, for instance, mentioned how she had recently shared a barbecue with him, remarking, “He didn’t seem like the type of person who would do something like this … I’m a little shocked.” It’s curious how someone’s actions can bewilder those around them, creating a stark contrast between personal interactions and serious allegations.
Investigators believe the murders might have occurred somewhere between 2 a.m. and 5 a.m. on December 30. The situation escalated when a friend of the Tepe couple went to their home, saw a body inside, and subsequently called 911 for help.
Fortunately, both children of the Tepe couple were found safe at home when officers responded. Remarkably, officials reported no signs of forced entry, and no weapons were discovered on the premises.
