Political community responds to Biden’s cancer diagnosis

Messages of sympathy have been pouring in from across the nation following the announcement from former President Joe Biden’s team about his diagnosis with an “aggressive” form of prostate cancer at the age of 82.

In a statement, Biden’s team explained that he had seen an increase in urinary symptoms, leading to the discovery of prostate nodules. On Friday, he received a prostate cancer diagnosis with a Gleason score of 9 (Grade Group 5) and there’s evidence of metastasis to the bone. This indicates a more serious condition, though it appears hormone-sensitive, allowing for potential effective management. The family is currently seeking treatment options with his doctor.

Responses from prominent figures followed. Former President Donald Trump expressed his sadness, stating that he and Melania were sorry to hear about Biden’s health. He extended warm wishes to Jill and the family, hoping for a quick recovery.

Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton also shared her support, suggesting that cancer can be a great unifier as people strive to help those affected. She expressed hope for a speedy and full recovery.

Meghan McCain, reflecting on her own father’s battle with cancer, conveyed her sorrow over the diagnosis. “Cancer is truly terrible,” she wrote, adding that she wished strength and healing for Biden and his family, emphasizing that such struggles deserve compassion beyond politics.

Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene expressed her condolences as well, remarking that it was upsetting to learn this news.

California Governor Gavin Newsom sent his prayers and strength to Biden, calling him a man of dignity who deserves a long and beautiful life.

Senator Tim Burchett labeled the news as “terrifying,” urging people to keep Biden and his family in their thoughts.
