Political Islam is focused on the long term — America is not fully engaged

A Political System Incompatible with the Constitution?

There seems to be a political framework in the United States that doesn’t align with the Constitution, and yet we’re largely ignoring it.

Sharia, which is the Islamic legal and political system, is finding its way into various communities and institutions, notably through substantial projects in Texas. If we keep overlooking this, we could be facing serious repercussions.

This highlights a significant contradiction within political Islam. It claims to have universal authority, while insisting that its most stringent rules aren’t enforced here. But when you really think about it, that assertion starts to falter; it’s rarely the case.

To engage in a real conversation about this, we first need to clarify what Sharia really entails. It’s not just a collection of religious guidelines regarding prayer or food. Instead, it acts as a comprehensive legal and political structure that influences everything from marriage to financial dealings, criminal punishments, and even daily life. It establishes a parallel system that tries to assert its influence wherever it takes root.

This is a crucial distinction. A number of Muslims in America wish to separate themselves from Sharia law—they chose to come here because they lived under it in their home countries. However, it’s important to note that political Islam, or the push to have Sharia enforced as law, differs from private religious practices.

It operates as a political ideology with aspirations that could be compared to communism. Secretary of State Marco Rubio recently cautioned that Islamist groups do not aim for peaceful coexistence with Western nations; what they seek is control. History certainly supports this view.

How Sharia Might Manifest

Political Islam doesn’t announce its arrival with dramatic declarations. Instead, it starts subtly, through communities that adhere to their unique set of rules. Take the development formerly known as EPIC City, now Meadow. It was originally intended as a community designed for Muslims, centered around a large mosque, and governed by Islamic financial practices. Although there has been a national investigation prompting a change in branding, the initial goals haven’t really shifted.

Developers have openly described systems that use fees and ownership models to effectively create an environment exclusive to Muslims, barring non-Muslims from participation. This isn’t a case of assimilation; it represents the formation of a parallel society within a constitutional framework.

Insights from Those Who Have Experienced It

Years back, local imams in Texas spoke to me candidly about certain Sharia punishments that they believed “worked.” They discussed severe penalties for theft, adultery, and even differing standards for testimonies based on gender. They rationalized it as logical and effective, but insisted that Texas would never enforce such measures.

Yet, they couldn’t really clarify why a system they regarded as divinely ordained would somehow stop applying at a national border.

This contradiction is particularly noteworthy: while claiming universality, political Islam asserts that its strictest laws are not enforced here. Again, that claim just doesn’t hold up under close examination.

America’s Vulnerability

Europe is already showing us the potential consequences. Exclusion zones, alternative judicial systems, political coercion, and extremist clerics have taken root in major urban areas.

The strength of America has always been its diverse melting pot, but assimilation has its limits. We must firmly uphold that the Constitution, not religious law, is the ultimate authority in this nation.

And yet, we often hesitate to state this clearly, mistaking silence for tolerance and avoidance for fairness. Political Islam interprets this hesitation as weakness.

While religious freedom is one of America’s fundamental strengths—allowing Muslims to practice their faith freely—political Islam must not be allowed to plant its banner on American grounds. The Constitution cannot be reconciled with a system that undermines equal rights, restricts free speech, subjugates women, and supersedes civil law.

Wake Up Before It’s Too Late

Projects like Meadow aren’t mere anomalies; they serve as trial runs, scaffolding, and potential models. The tactics employed in Islamic politics are marked by patience and rely on demographic growth, legal ambiguity, and cultural reluctance—counting on Americans to stay polite, distracted, or apprehensive about confronting the issue.

We don’t have the luxury of inaction. If we neglect to uphold the principles that offer freedom in this country, we may find ourselves bewildered by how this parallel system gained influence right under our noses. The answer will be clear: “We were looking away.”

Now is the time for clarity and honesty. Now is the time to assert that the Constitution remains the supreme law of the land. We must act before it’s too late.
