Voters are concerned about the U.S. government’s reliance on Microsoft email services.

According to a public opinion survey conducted by The Hill In a survey released Thursday, 84% of respondents said they were concerned that 90% of federal employee emails are linked to Microsoft.
Meanwhile, 68% said Microsoft should not continue to receive billions of dollars in cybersecurity contracts.
In April, a series of reports emerged alleging flaws in the company’s security measures had allowed Chinese and Russian hackers to gain unauthorized access to the accounts of U.S. government agencies and employees.
Microsoft President Brad Smith acknowledged that the reports were accurate and said the company needed to address its mistakes head on.
“We take responsibility for all findings in the CSRB report,” Smith said at the hearing.
“We’re facing formidable adversaries — China, Russia, North Korea, Iran — and they’re getting stronger,” Smith continued. “They’re becoming more aggressive and they’re launching attacks with extraordinary vigor.”
Meanwhile, Microsoft has vowed to take steps to strengthen its cybersecurity measures.
Meanwhile, federal agencies are compiling a list of “best practices” for Microsoft to use and will ensure the company complies with the standards.
