Meteorite Crashes in Houston

In a surprising turn of events, a woman in Houston reported that what she believes to be a meteorite crashed through her roof, creating a significant hole and leaving behind a rock roughly the size of a football.

The incident caused quite a stir on social media when residents started sharing their confusion and concerns about what seemed to be a large explosion in the area on Saturday afternoon.

Fire officials from the Brenham Fire Department confirmed they were dispatched after receiving reports of a possible explosion near Highway 50. Yet, upon arrival, nothing was found at the scene.

According to eyewitness accounts, multiple people noticed “a green flash” falling from the sky followed by black smoke and a loud thud.

Interestingly, some fire authorities suggested that the loud noise could have been linked to a “possible meteorite.”

Sherry James, the homeowner, recounted her experience, explaining how she quickly reached out to both FOX 26 and local fire services after the rock crashed through her ceiling, leaving extensive damage.

A photo shared by James depicted a large black rock, resembling a soccer ball, which she believes had broken free from a larger fragment.

Given that there were no nearby trees or buildings, the fire department was called to assess the situation. It seems likely that the rock was indeed part of the meteor that made headlines across Houston.

The American Meteor Society reported a “bolide event” over Texas on Saturday, noting they had received over a hundred reports related to it. Observers mentioned that the event lasted anywhere from 1.5 to 7.5 seconds, though experts have yet to verify these claims.

As of now, there have been no confirmed additional reports of damage related to this unusual occurrence.
