Post Malone is embracing fatherhood and taking it one day at a time.
In a recent interview with GQ, the rapper—whose real name is Austin Post—opened up about his life with his 3-year-old daughter. The interview is set to be released on Tuesday.
“Kids can be tiny monsters and yet so beautiful,” Malone, 30, noted. “As a dad, I really focus on each day as it comes. It’s essential, I think. Every day is a learning experience for us.”
The musician acknowledged that he’s still figuring out the dynamics of being a parent. “I’m not entirely sure what I’m doing, and she isn’t either,” he admitted about his daughter, who is referred to as “DDP.”
“She just seems to get that,” he added with a smile.
Currently residing in a spacious, renovated home in Cottonwood Heights, Utah, Malone mentioned that his daughter enjoys their new surroundings. “There’s this long hallway where she can ride her bike, and she has this little toy horse,” he explained.
“I’m still navigating this whole parenting thing,” he shared earnestly.
“It’s honestly the most incredible experience I’ve ever had. I’m really excited about it,” he added.
Post Malone described being a father as an amazing journey. “It’s pretty neat. Being a dad is a wild ride,” he said.
He couldn’t help but rave about his daughter’s personality. “She’s just so funny. It’s unstoppable! She’s the most beautiful being on this planet,” he told GQ.
“I can hardly believe it… I don’t feel like I deserve this joy, but it’s incredible,” he reflected.
Malone quietly welcomed his daughter back in May 2022.
Details about his relationship status have been a bit murky, but it’s known that he recently started dating someone new in March after his previous relationship ended that summer. Interestingly, he initiated custody proceedings for his daughter just days before his ex-fiancée, Jamie Park, filed her own documents in California.
Around a month ago, Malone celebrated a legal win in his custody battle, but Park has since filed a child custody lawsuit in Los Angeles, aiming to maintain her residence in Utah.
