Post-Oscars photo reveals celebrities' climate hypocrisy

The 2026 Oscars might be in the rearview mirror, but the backlash from fans regarding the behavior of certain celebrities—described as “dirty”—is just heating up.

Images have emerged showing litter, including tossed water bottles and snack wrappers, scattered throughout the Dolby Theater in Hollywood. This has sparked outrage online, particularly among those criticizing the perceived hypocrisy of celebrities who advocate for environmental sustainability.

“Don’t they have any environmentalists among them?” one social media user questioned. “Where’s their commitment to protecting the planet now?”

Another echoed similar sentiments, stating, “They talk about saving the mountains, but look at the mess they create.”

The incident has been viewed almost 4 million times, captioned with a call to “Clean all the aisles.”

Critics are also upset about the wealthy and famous leaving behind their messes for others to deal with. One commenter remarked, “As always, the rich leave their dirt for the poor.”

Some defended the celebrities, suggesting the blame lies in poor event planning. A commenter highlighted a glaring oversight—there were no trash stations visible, making cleanup nearly impossible for attendees who enjoyed food and drinks.

The ceremony, which took place on March 15, featured notable environmental advocates like Jane Fonda, Javier Bardem, and Leonardo DiCaprio. However, despite their efforts for climate change awareness during the awards, they faced criticism for failing to take responsibility for the mess left behind.

The complications aren’t just a reflection of individual actions; they highlight broader issues in organizing high-profile events and the expectations of those involved.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has been approached for a statement regarding the incident.
