Flyer Encourages Activists to Target Police Helicopters in Portland
A flyer reportedly created by far-left activists is urging individuals to use laser pointers against law enforcement helicopters in Portland, Oregon.
The city has faced violent protests from Antifa against Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials. This has escalated to the point where the Trump administration deployed the National Guard to safeguard federal facilities, even hinting at withholding federal funds from the city.
An online post surfaced on Thursday that appears to incite activists to engage in federal offenses. It states, “Every night for weeks, we are under the watchful eye of the federal government, with helicopters monitoring us. The only limitation on their power is our refusal to comply. Join us this Saturday, October 11th at 9 p.m. to push back. All you need is a laser. You can see where the light is coming from when you leave your home.”
“When the clock hits 9, head to a park or public space and shine your laser at the helicopter. Don’t forget to wear a mask,” the flyer instructs. “Let’s gather with friends for a laser party!”
This flyer can be linked to a post on a website that shares “anarchist and anti-authoritarian” content called Rose City Counter-Info. The site also features various materials promoting Antifa.
In the past, left-wing demonstrators have utilized laser pointers against federal officials in Portland, notably during the protests of 2020. In July of that year, several protesters faced arrests due to violent actions, including using lasers as weapons.
National correspondent Julio Rosas commented, “It’s not shocking that Antifa has declared their plan to break federal laws. They aim to instigate chaos within the federal government.” He referenced a recent case where four undocumented individuals in Portland were apprehended for similar laser incidents.
Rosas discussed his experiences working with leftist groups during a roundtable on Antifa at the White House this past Wednesday.
Attempts to reach out to multiple Antifa-affiliated websites in Portland for their comments were met with silence.
