Powerball jackpot swells to $810 million for New Year’s Day drawing

Ring in the new year with a chance to take home lots of cash!

Monday night's Powerball jackpot drawing ballooned to $810 million, making it the fifth-largest draw in the game's history. According to the lottery.

The one-time cash payment now stands at $408.9 million. The drawing will take place at 10:59pm ET.

The huge jackpot has increased after 34 draws with no winner.

The lottery estimates that the odds of hitting the jackpot are 1 in 292.2 million.

No one took home the final jackpot of 2023, but five people won $1 million. Tickets were sold in Colorado, New York, Ohio, South Carolina and Tennessee.

According to the lottery, two people from Texas and West Virginia each won prizes of $2 million, 67 people won prizes of $50,000, and 20 people won prizes of $200,000.

The last jackpot was won on October 11th in California for $1.765 billion. It was the biggest award of the year.

The liquor is sold at Midway Market & Liquors in Frazier Park, and the unidentified winner is believed to be a local resident who played the lottery religiously.

According to the Lottery, the largest prize in history was won on November 7, 2022 in California for $2.04 billion.

Edwin Castro, 31, won the jackpot and used the proceeds to take a friend on a luxury trip to Fiji. Mr. Castro chose the lump-sum payment option, which netted him a life-changing $997.6 million.
