Powerball Player Wins $478M Jackpot In Georgia

On Wednesday night, a Powerball player in Georgia won an estimated $478 million. This breaks an alarming 10-year drought in winning lottery jackpots in the Peach State.

The winning numbers were 2, 15, 27, 29, 39 and a red Powerball 20.

If all six numbers match, the winner will have the option to take home an estimated $478 million prize, paid out over 29 years, or an estimated $230.6 million lump sum.

The odds for a player to win the Powerball Grand Prize are an incredible 1 in 292,201,338.

Meanwhile, two ticket holders from Pennsylvania and Texas matched all five white balls and won $1 million in prizes.

Additionally, Wednesday night's win ended a two-month drought for Powerball jackpot winners. The last winner was a California lottery player who won a $44.3 million jackpot on August 19, 2024.

In the past 14 years, only four jackpot winning tickets have been sold in the Peach State.

Couple William and Heather ten Broek won a $246 million prize on September 17, 2016, but opted for a cash value of $165,613,510.93.

According to reports, the couple were shopping at a grocery store in Georgia when Heather ten Broek reminded her husband to buy a lottery ticket. WSB2.

Georgia Lottery players have 180 days to claim their winnings, according to the Georgia Lottery website.

An unknown player from New Jersey who bought a $1.13 billion Mega Millions ticket in March has yet to come forward, even though he has more than five months left to claim his prize.
