Critics of PragerU, who have long dismissed it as “not a real university,” may be surprised to learn that the organization now offers courses that count toward college credit.
“For years, critics have laughed at us, saying PragerU isn’t a ‘real university.’ Well, that’s changed,” the conservative group stated in a press release.
“Students can now earn college credits through our partnership pathway, showing that understanding the American story through facts and values can be valuable for a degree,” PragerU expressed.
The organization announced its collaboration with accredited universities to “provide a full college-level course in history and civics,” starting with Southeastern University.
“We’ll reveal more partnerships through Christian Hall in the coming years as we expand our programs,” PragerU noted.
Southeastern University’s inaugural course in partnership with PragerU is titled “Leaders and Legacies: American History through Presidential Biography,” based on the group’s well-known “5 minute video” series.
This course will feature lectures by notable historians and scholars, including Allen Guelzo, Wilfred McCray, and Carol Swain, according to the organization.
“We’ve faced criticism for not being considered a ‘real university,’ so we decided to change that,” PragerU CEO Marissa Streit commented. “We appreciate Southeastern University for enabling credits for PragerU materials across more than 15 campuses and online.”
“PragerU has always committed to offering a genuine, fact-based, values-centered education,” Streit emphasized.
Students at Southeastern University will have the opportunity to complete two courses that explore American history through its leaders and pivotal events, as explained by PragerU.
The first course, set to start in March 2026, will delve into the U.S. presidency and the nation’s evolution, covering topics from “the founding miracle to the Gilded Age,” as noted by the organization.
The second course will continue from there, examining the Progressive Era to present-day issues, expected to be available in summer 2026.
PragerU added that individuals interested in the American history course series do not need to be enrolled as students to participate.
“Whether you’re attending another college, in high school, homeschooled, or just wanting to learn more about American history, we have various options for you,” the organization stated.
Aspiring students can find further details about PragerU’s University Course Series online.
