A judge in Mundelein, Illinois, on Monday denied pretrial release to a woman accused of stabbing her boyfriend to death.

Authorities believe she called 911 for help. Lake County Assistant Prosecutor Manuel Mandujano said the suspect got on the ground, showed officers his hands and said, “Sorry, he’s over there.”
The unconscious man was identified as the woman’s boyfriend, Michael Murphy, 53. The victim was found lying covered in blood and wrapped in a blanket inside the apartment.
“He had at least five stab wounds, one of which penetrated his heart,” the newspaper said, adding that paramedics performed CPR to save his life.
However, the man died after being taken to a local hospital along with the woman.

After prosecutors requested that the suspect be detained, Lake County Judge D. Christopher Lombardo granted the request and remanded the suspect to jail.
