Predictions and top bets for the NHL Western Conference finals

The Edmonton Oilers leveled the Western Conference Finals with a solid 3-0 victory over the Dallas Stars in Game 2 on Friday night.

This win marked the third shutout for Stuart Skinner, as he bounced back impressively after a tough Game 1 performance.

The Oilers are currently favored at -164 to win the series, and they hold -155 odds for Game 3, which takes place at home this Sunday afternoon.

Star vs Oilers Game 3 Bet Preview

Throughout the playoffs, the Oilers have shown a surprising level of versatility.

Initially, it seemed like Edmonton would be heavily reliant on stars Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl, especially given their struggles during parts of the regular season.

But as the playoffs progressed, the Oilers have emerged strongly, winning nine of their first 13 postseason games, with contributions coming from across the whole roster.

McDavid and Draisaitl continue to drive the offense, accumulating 20 points combined. Meanwhile, six other players have chipped in with at least seven points—which doesn’t even include Jake Walman, John Klingberg, and Brett Kulak.

On the other side, Dallas has depth as well, but they really need to find a more aggressive rhythm during 5-on-5 play.

They’ve managed only two goals in the series so far at full strength, and just four across the last five games.

Star vs Oilers Game 3 Picks

The money line for Game 3 seems quite reasonable. The Oilers should rightly be seen as favorites at home, but given the inconsistencies in Skinner’s performance lately, there’s some concern about the price you’d pay.

Dallas hasn’t shown enough offensive spark recently to make betting on them at +134 particularly appealing.

Instead, it might be wise to consider prop bets for Game 3.

Interestingly, the first two games in this series have gone against expectations. Dallas took the high-scoring initial game, and then Edmonton shut things down in the latest match.

It’s worth noting that winning in the Stanley Cup playoffs can come in various forms, but one has to think about which team will be more desperate for a win in Game 3.

Dallas seems inclined to slow down the pace and turn Sunday’s game into a slugfest. Edmonton, however, will likely aim for just the opposite.

These contrasting approaches could lead to a tense competition, especially early on.

I think Game 3 may take its time to open up, which could result in an attractive price for under 0.5 goals in the first period.

Play: 0.5th goal (+490)
