Stabbing Incident in Paris Injures Pregnant Woman and Two Others

On Monday morning in Paris, a stabbing incident left three people injured, including a pregnant woman. This shocking event occurred in the 17th arrondissement, near the Porte de Clichy metro station.

According to Geoffroy Boullard, the local mayor, the victims are between 19 and 36 years old. Reports from various outlets have confirmed the details, with Le Parisien noting the age of the pregnant victim.

While the attacker claimed to be motivated by “Allah,” investigators do not currently classify the incident as terrorism. They stated, “The man said that Allah sent me to kill women, but he is clearly unstable.”

Witnesses recounted that the suspect, a 31-year-old man, attacked three women before being subdued. An off-duty police officer observed the incident and called for assistance, which led to the arrest of the suspect. Footage circulating on social media depicts the man being restrained while he was heard saying, “Allah commanded me.”

Two of the victims are reportedly in critical condition, while a third victim’s status remains severe. Emergency services responded quickly, ensuring that the injured received medical attention at the hospital.

Interior Minister Laurent Nuñez noted that upon interacting with the suspect, he made “incoherent statements,” raising concerns about the motive behind this violent act.

This stabbing occurred shortly after a tragic event in Berlin where a driver rammed into a crowd during an LGBTQ+ Pride parade, resulting in one death and numerous injuries. The government has categorized that incident as an Islamist terrorist attack, and the suspect was shot by police after a lengthy manhunt.
