ESPN’s Upcoming Documentary on Nick Saban

If you’re into sports, this one’s definitely a “must-watch.”

ESPN is set to release a six-episode documentary series titled “Saban” on October 8, providing an in-depth look at the life, upbringing, and philosophy of the iconic college football coach, Nick Saban.

The documentary delves into Saban’s impressive 17-year tenure at the University of Alabama, as well as his stints at Louisiana State University and the Miami Dolphins in the NFL.

For the series, ESPN gained access to previously unseen, extensive footage from Saban’s time at Alabama, which is pretty exciting for fans. The project will also feature interviews with over 70 people connected to Saban, including notable figures like Lane Kiffin, Bill Belichick, Jalen Hurts, Tua Tagovailoa, Tim Tebow, Kirby Smart, Steve Sarkisian, Saban’s wife Terry, and Saban himself.

To be honest, it’s hard to imagine a project like this not happening eventually. Still, that doesn’t take away from how interesting—and entertaining—it may turn out to be.

Saban is known for running an incredibly disciplined program, and during his coaching years, he maintained a tough exterior. Fans often witnessed his intense press conferences filled with memorable quotes about “rat poison,” along with his sideline antics that displayed little room for vulnerability.

Having access to hundreds of hours of behind-the-scenes footage from Alabama is like uncovering a treasure trove for football fans.

What I’m particularly curious about is whether this series will hold Saban accountable for his past actions or merely serve as a celebratory recap of his successes. Will it touch upon his brief time with the Dolphins and how things ended there? Or address his abrupt shift when the NIL landscape began to change?

I guess we’ll find out. For now, I’ve marked October 8 on my calendar. It’s definitely something I won’t want to miss.
