Presidents Cup captain confirms there will be no members of LIV Golf on his team

The Presidents Cup is scheduled to be held at Royal Montreal Golf Club later this fall as the United States looks to maintain its advantage over international teams.

As with last year’s Ryder Cup, no members of LIV Golf will be participating in the American tournament.

Mike Weir, International Team Captain, 2003 Masters Champion, announced According to Sportsnet’s Adam Stanley, Liv Golf will not be participating as part of the team.

But this is not surprising.

All 12 members of the international team must be comprised of players eligible to play on the PGA Tour. Of course, this automatically excludes members of LIV.

Therefore, players like Cameron Smith and Louis Oosthuizen will not be available.

The top six players in the Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR), which suddenly became controversial after the BMW Championship, automatically qualify. From there, Weir would receive six captaincy nominations.

Japan’s Hideki Matsuyama wins the Genesis Invitational. Jason Day finally seems to be getting back into shape. Adam Scott and Minwoo Lee are a dangerous Australian couple. Even Emiliano Grillo and Nick Taylor are nearing the end of their careers.

It won’t be easy for the Americans, who have a 12-1-1 record since the Presidents Cup began in 1994.

Team USA, meanwhile, will feature the top six players in the FedExCup standings, with captain Jim Furyk selecting the final six to join him in Canada.
