Presler: 'I Talked to You Politely at the Airport', Cornyn Responds 'Fraudster'

Sen. Cornyn Responds to Conservative Activist’s Claim

Senator John Cornyn (R-Texas) labeled conservative activist Scott Pressler a “fraud” after Pressler mentioned an encounter with him at an airport.

Pressler originally tweeted about their interaction, stating he had urged Cornyn to support the SAVE America Act during a brief meeting. “Just spoke to Sen. John Cornyn at the airport,” he wrote. “I very kindly asked him to pass the SAVE America Act.”

In response, Cornyn reposted Pressler’s tweet, emphasizing his disapproval with a simple word: “Grifter.”

Despite the senator’s harsh reply, Pressler defended the meeting as friendly and claimed that Republican leaders should prioritize laws enhancing election integrity. “Dear Senator Cornyn, I respectfully approached you at the airport, extended my hand and introduced myself,” Pressler said. He noted there were “dozens of witnesses” and that they were in close proximity to other passengers.

He maintained a professional demeanor throughout their exchange, concentrating on the SAVE America Act, which mandates proof of citizenship for federal voter registration. “While I respect what you say about wanting to secure a victory this November, I speak for millions of people when I say voters will be more likely to vote to pass the SAVE America Act,” Pressler added.

Pressler expressed concerns about recent Republican election losses in California, highlighting that former Rep. Michelle Steele lost her re-election bid by 653 votes and former Rep. John Duarte by 187 votes.

He also criticized extended vote-counting periods in certain states and pointed out concerns about outdated voter registration records in North Carolina. Moreover, he alleged that some campaign funds in the Texas Senate race might be misallocated, suggesting that these could impact voter registration and turnout in key states.

“It may be hard to imagine because it is the right thing for the American people to do this job, but I am proud to say that I have not received any PAC$, not even from my own organization,” Pressler noted. “You can’t buy me. That’s what frustrates the political establishment.”

Concluding his remarks, Pressler urged Cornyn to support the SAVE America Act, expressing his plan to attend the Texas Republican Party convention to rally support for Republican candidates ahead of the upcoming elections. “I hope you will do the right thing and encourage your colleagues to pass the SAVE America Act. Let’s win big,” he stated.

It’s worth noting that Cornyn’s criticism comes despite his lengthy support for the SAVE America Act, as an original co-sponsor of this legislation aimed at requiring proof of citizenship for voter registration, initially introduced earlier this year alongside Sen. Mike Lee and Rep. Chip Roy.
