Prince Andrew gives up his royal title following ongoing allegations.

Prince Andrew Renounces Royal Title

Prince Andrew has officially renounced his royal title. In a recent statement, he explained that after discussions with King Charles and his family, he feels that ongoing accusations against him would distract from the royal family’s work. He emphasized that his priority has always been to his family and country, reiterating his choice to step back from public life five years ago.

The statement added, “With His Majesty’s consent, we believe it’s necessary to take this step further. Therefore, I will no longer use my title or the honor given to me. I maintain my strong denial of the accusations.” From now on, he will no longer be referred to as the Duke of York; however, he still retains the title of prince due to being the son of the late Queen Elizabeth. His Royal Highness title was already revoked in 2019.

This decision comes as excerpts from the soon-to-be-released memoir of Virginia Giuffre, who alleges that she was trafficked by Jeffrey Epstein and had sexual encounters with him at the age of 17, are being published. Giuffre’s memoir, titled “Nobody’s Girl: A Memoir of Surviving Abuse and Fighting for Justice,” claims that she had sexual relations with Prince Andrew three times.

Giuffre mentioned in her memoir that Ghislaine Maxwell, Epstein’s associate, encouraged her to engage with Prince Andrew in a manner similar to how she had interacted with investors. She vividly recalls, “When we got back to the house, Maxwell and Epstein said goodnight and went upstairs, signaling it was my turn to take care of the prince.” She also frowned upon the prince’s seemingly entitled demeanor, feeling like he thought it was his right to have sex with her.

In one of her recounts, she described how she prepared a hot bath for him before the encounter, including details that can be, well, a bit uncomfortable to read. “We took off our clothes and got into the bathtub, but it was short-lived because he wanted to proceed to bed,” she reflected. She noted his attention to her feet and how the encounter felt rushed, claiming it didn’t last long at all. The next morning, Maxwell remarked on the visit, hinting at the financial exchange for her actions.

Prince Andrew’s relationship with Epstein has long plagued the royal family. After a BBC interview in 2019, where he spoke about his connection with Epstein, he announced his withdrawal from public royal duties. He expressed regret, stating, “I was with him…and I blame myself every day. That is not befitting of a member of the Royal Family, and we strive to uphold the highest standards and practices, and I let that party down.”

Although he noted not regretting his friendship with Epstein due to the connections and lessons learned, his remarks sparked further media scrutiny. Epstein died by suicide in 2019 while facing serious charges related to sex trafficking. The developments surrounding Prince Andrew continue to evoke a variety of reactions and opinions.
