New details have emerged about Prince Andrew’s past relationship with Jeffrey Epstein. It was reported that after a controversial picture surfaced in 2011 showing Andrew holding Virginia Giuffre, the prince allegedly told Epstein, “We’re in this together.”
In an email dated February 28, 2011, Andrew expressed concern for Epstein, stating, “Don’t worry about me! Looks like we’re in this together and we’ll have to get through it.” This was sent only months after he had publicly claimed to have severed all ties with Epstein.
At that time, Epstein was facing serious legal troubles, having been arrested on federal sex trafficking charges involving numerous underage girls. He later died in a New York jail, with authorities ruling the incident a suicide.
Ghislaine Maxwell, Epstein’s former girlfriend, was convicted in 2021 for her role in enabling Epstein’s exploitation of young women. She is currently serving a 20-year sentence.
Recently, Prince Andrew’s ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson, faced backlash and was stripped of several charitable patronages after emails revealed her past affectionate comments about Epstein, calling him a “steadfast, generous and best friend.” This came as a surprise given her public condemnation of their friendship just a few years earlier.
During an interview with the Evening Standard, Ferguson had expressed regret over her connection to Epstein, vowing never to associate with him again after he was jailed for soliciting prostitution from a minor. Yet, in a follow-up email to him, she described him as “steady, generous, and a great friend.” It’s a contradiction that people have found quite unsettling.
Ferguson later acknowledged feeling pressured to distance herself from Epstein to safeguard her career as a children’s author and philanthropist. She expressed remorse for disappointing those following the scandal.
Meanwhile, Andrew has reportedly been privately grappling with ongoing turmoil. This has been compounded by the impending publication of Virginia Giuffre’s memoir, which dishes out serious allegations against him and Epstein. Experts suggest this has raised fresh concerns about Andrew’s mental health.
The royal family has not commented on the current situation surrounding Andrew, who no longer performs royal duties.
