Prince Andrew won’t be newly investigated by UK police following document release

Prince Andrew will not face a new investigation by British police after he was included in this week's highly publicized release of newly unsealed documents about Jeffrey Epstein.

“We are aware that court documents relating to Jeffrey Epstein have been released,” the Metropolitan Police said in a statement on Friday. “As with any issue, if new and relevant information comes to our attention, we will evaluate it.”

Epstein accuser Virginia Giuffre filed a complaint against the Duke of York in 2021 over allegations that he forced her to have sex with him when she was a teenager. He settled the lawsuit in 2022.

Andrew continues to deny the accusations.

In unsealed documents, the 63-year-old woman was accused in a deposition by Epstein's accuser Johanna Sjoberg of groping her while she sat on Epstein's lap. She described him as a “nymphomaniac.”

Second batch of documents about celebrities and others on Jeffrey Epstein's island released

“At one point, Ghislaine asked me to come upstairs, and we went into the closet and pulled out a doll that was a caricature of Prince Andrew and put it down,” Sjoberg said. “And the doll had a little tag that said 'Prince Andrew' on it, and that's when I knew who he was.”

Someone then took a photo of Mr. Sjoberg, Mr. Andrews, and Mr. Epstein's accuser Virginia Giuffre with the doll.

“They put the doll on Virginia's lap and I sat on Andrew's lap,” Shoberg said. “Then they put the doll's hand on Virginia's chest, and Andrew put his hand on mine, and we took a picture.”

Andrew's attorney did not respond to Fox News Digital's request for comment.

Anti-monarchy group Republic announced on Thursday that it had reported Andrew to the police following the publication of the documents.

In 2019, Andrew stepped down from his senior royal duties and ceased to carry out any public duties, and in January 2022, he announced: “With the approval and consent of Queen Elizabeth II, the Duke of York's military affiliation and royal patronage will be returned to Her Majesty the Queen.'' “The Duke will continue to refrain from carrying out any royal duties,” Buckingham Palace said in a statement posted on the royal family's website.

Royal expert Ian Pelham Turner told Fox News Digital this week: “Prince Andrew is well separated from the royal family and is only allowed into public life on rare occasions.” . “But I think King Charles will be watching to see how this matter develops, and I don't see any opportunistic reactions or statements. The royal family has not contacted their lawyers about the advice that was rejected. I plan to consult with you.”
