Prince Harry Hopes for Reconciliation with Royal Family

Prince Harry shared his hopes for mending the rift within his family, emphasizing his desire to heal the strained relationships. In a recent interview with GQ, Harry discussed his return to the UK with Meghan Markle and their two children.

“Our attitude has changed,” he remarked, reflecting on their evolving perspective.

When addressing the family discord, he stated, “Once you’ve been through it and talked about it, raising awareness allows people to see the situation more clearly, which makes things a bit easier.”

Harry acknowledged that the journey toward reconciliation might be challenging and, in some cases, elusive. He mentioned, “It’s not necessarily going to stop the behavior, but that’s the second part.”

He expressed his desire for change regarding those behaviors. “I hope that it will change,” he added, reflecting on past events and saying, “What happened back then was then, and what’s transpired over the last six years has only been a continuation.”

Harry emphasized, “There are battles that have been fought, and rightly so, but hopefully we can all agree to move forward.”

He put his family’s issues into perspective, noting, “With everything else happening globally, I believe there are aspects of the past we’d all like to move beyond and focus on the greater good.”

“I am optimistic,” he conveyed, acknowledging, “I’m not naïve; I’ve been naïve before. But I think it’s important to keep hope alive.”

Harry discussed respect, saying, “I can respect them if they respect me and our position.” He reaffirmed his stance, saying, “Our position is quite clear now, and I hope we can just get on with life.”

When asked if he feels sadness regarding his relationships with his brother, Prince William, and father, King Charles III, Harry quickly replied, “Yes, of course.”

He commented that issues stemming from strained family bonds are “massively relatable” for many people. Despite acknowledging the difficulty of true reconciliation, he noted, “Some people don’t want it to work out.”

Harry concluded by reiterating the importance of moving forward, saying, “With all that’s happening in the world, reconciliation is crucial. Scars may remain, but your mindset on past events is vital — letting go is something I would encourage everyone to consider.”
