Prince Harry resigns from Sentebale after ‘devastating’ issues with leadership

Prince Harry said goodbye to Centeber, an African charity that he co-founded in honor of his mother, Princess Diana, nearly 20 years ago.

On Monday, his co-founder, Prince Lesotho, and his fellow trustee, Duke of Sussex, resigned amid tensions with Dr. Sophie Chandouka, chairman of the Charity Committee. The era.

“Nearly 20 years ago, we founded Centeber in honor of our mothers, which means “forgetting” in Sesotho, a local language in Lesotho. This is something Harry and Prince Siso, who co-founded the charity in 2006, have always made a promise to the young people who served through the charity.

“Not different today either. Because we are strong-minded, we have resigned from our role as patrons of the organization until we were solidarized and supported the board and solidarity that we had to do the same. It is devastating that the relationship between the charity trustee and the board chair has caused a situation that cannot be repaired.”

After visiting Lesotho during the 2004 gap year, the Duke of Sussex co-founded a charity with Seeso, whose mother died in 2003.

According to the Times, the charity had been “restructuring” the board as “a confirmation of a strategy to redeploy senior roles to get closer to most South African teams and programs.” The outlet reported that Chandauka is believed to suing the charity councillor after expressing concern about her leadership.

Prince Harry and Prince Sheeso said despite continued tensions with Chandouka, the councillors “acted in the greatest interests of charity.”

“These trustees provided the greatest charity benefits in asking Chair to resign and acted with the happiness of their staff in mind. They then appealed to the charity to remain in this voluntary position, further highlighting the broken relationship.”

“We thank all councillors for their service over the years and are truly heartbroken that they had to follow this law,” the statement continued. “I can't imagine what's happening. We're shocked that we have to do this, but we share all our concerns with the Charity Committee about how this happened as we have an ongoing responsibility to the beneficiaries of Sentebale.”

In response, Chandauka reportedly filed a lawsuit against Centeber in the High Court, accusing both princes of playing the “Victim Card.” CBS reported.

“As a proud African who understands it, I chose to join Centeber first – in the spirit of Ubuntu [interconnectedness] – There's a lot to be expected from many people,” she said in a statement to CBS. My actions are guided by the principles of fairness and fair treatment for all, regardless of social status or economic means. ”

“There are people in this world who act as if they were abusing people beyond the law, play victim cards, and use the very press they despise to hurt people who have the courage to challenge their actions,” the statement continued. “The discerning reader asks themselves: Why does the board chair report her own councillors to the Charitable Committee? Why would the High Court of England and Wales accept her application to hear the matter if the case was not merit?

“Well, under the stories and fiction of all the victims, syndicated to the press is because it's a story of a woman who tried to blow whi over poor governance, weak business management, abuse of power, bullying, harassment, false ego, false concrete issues. [misogyny directed towards Black women] And then the cover-up. I can be anyone. ”
