Prince Harry speaks up about the long-anticipated reunion with King Charles

Prince Harry Meets King Charles After 20 Months

Prince Harry recently met with his father, King Charles, marking their first conversation in 20 months. The Duke of Sussex, who is 40, drove to Clarence House in London for what has been described as a “private tea” that lasted about 55 minutes.

During this much-anticipated meeting, Harry offered an update on his father’s health amid the king’s battle with cancer. When asked about Charles, who is 76, Harry responded, “He’s amazing, thank you,” just under an hour after their meeting concluded.

After the meeting, Harry rushed to host the Invictus Horizons event at the Gherkin building in central London, where he engaged with supporters and community members. His arrival, however, was delayed due to an ongoing metro strike, which caused traffic congestion for his black SUV. Since stepping back from royal duties and moving to the United States in 2020, he no longer receives police escorts.

It’s worth noting that Prince William was absent from this reunion. The two brothers haven’t spoken in years, and this omission has been a point of conversation among royal watchers.

The king, having traveled from Balmoral, Scotland, was occupied with a series of private meetings, including one with his youngest son. However, it appears there was some discomfort on Charles’s part regarding seeing Harry amid his legal struggles for taxpayer-funded security.

Harry had previously expressed a desire to reconcile with his family, highlighting the importance of time, especially concerning his father’s health. After losing a recent appeal regarding security measures, he mentioned feeling hopeful for a settlement.

In July, attempts at reconciliation appeared to fade when reports surfaced of Harry’s team engaging with royal correspondents, which sparked speculation about his relationship with the family.

After arriving in London, Harry also visited St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle, where he paid his respects to his late grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, marking the third anniversary of her passing. He placed wreaths and flowers at her final resting place.

The following day, he participated in the annual WellChild Awards in Nottingham, continuing his engagements in the UK.
