The youngest royal certainly stole the spotlight!
Prince Louis, just 7 years old, was a bundle of energy as he waved to the crowd, celebrating the monarch’s birthday during the annual Trooping the Color event in London on Saturday.
He was alongside his siblings, Princess Charlotte, who is 10, and Prince George, 9, as well as their parents, Kate Middleton and King Charles, on the Buckingham Palace balcony at the end of the festivities. The royal family gathered to witness a flypast from the Royal Air Force as a way to wrap up the celebration.
In some videos shared on social media, Prince Louis was still waving at the audience while everyone else seemed to have stopped. Prince George noticed, touched Louis’s arm, and whispered for him to “knock it off.” Louis, perhaps a bit mischievous, quickly tucked his arm down.
Even as the family started to head inside post-event, Louis couldn’t help but flash a huge grin and wave once more. It was hard not to smile back at that excitement.
Social media users flocked to X, expressing their delight at the sight of the young royals having fun. One person even commented on how these kids always steal the show! There’s something about Louis’s cheeky charm that fans can’t seem to resist.
He’s got quite the reputation already for his entertaining antics. Last year, he was seen dancing around enthusiastically while the band played, and Princess Charlotte was spotted telling him to settle down.
At Queen Elizabeth’s platinum jubilee in 2022, Louis pulled plenty of laughs with his array of animated expressions.
An insider once described him as “a little cheeky monkey, very much the typical third child.” It’s nice to see him so carefree and enjoying the moment.
After the event wrapped up, Prince and Princess of Wales shared their thoughts about how amazing it was, especially praising Louis. They clearly have a special affection for his spirited personality.
On that day, Princess Kate surprised many with her sky-blue dress featuring ivory lapels and cuffs, paired with a lovely blue flower hat. Charlotte was also dressed in blue, complete with a diamond brooch and braided hair, while George and Louis opted for dark suits.
The trio traveled in a carriage, with Prince William on horseback nearby, while King Charles and Queen Camilla shared a carriage of their own.
This annual event happens every June as a celebration of the British monarchy’s official birthday, drawing in over 1,400 soldiers, horses, and musicians for a grand display.
Notably absent this year were Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, along with their children, Archie and Lilibet. They haven’t been part of this celebration since stepping away from royal duties in 2020.
Royal insiders have commented on the importance of their absence, suggesting that the royal family is keen on showcasing unity without them.
As for King Charles, this year’s Trooping the Color is a significant occasion, particularly as he’s facing health challenges. His presence signifies resilience, sending a message of unity to the nation.
Overall, it’s a moment for the king to assert that he remains steadfast in his duties, emphasizing the royal family’s togetherness despite the circumstances.
