Prince Philip kept ’70s erotic manual on bookshelf, Queen Elizabeth once dropped F-bomb, insiders claim

It’s no secret that Prince Philip has a cheeky side, but one royal photographer found out for himself.

Julian Calder shares his favorite memory of the British Royal Family:Hello! A truly royal podcast. Queen Elizabeth, Britain’s longest-reigning monarch, passed away on September 8, 2022 at the age of 96. Her Queen was preceded in death by the Duke of Edinburgh. She passed away in April 2021 at the age of 99.

Mr Calder took several portraits of the royal couple in their later years, including near Balmoral Castle in Scotland in 2010 and at Buckingham Palace in 2012 to commemorate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.

Calder said courtiers never gave him any special rules regarding royal photography. However, he claimed that while filming Philip, he once requested that the classic erotic manual be removed from the background.

“I once painted a portrait of Prince Philip in his office,” he told co-hosts Andrea Caamano, Emily Nash and Emmy Griffiths.

“And he was standing there, and I was pretty young at the time,” Calder said. “And I looked through the lens and thought, ‘God, there’s a book right behind his right ear called The Joy of Sex.’ I had to say, “Prince Philip, should I move that?” Then he laughed and asked for the carriage to be moved. ”

“You looked stupid!” Calder added.

The Joy of Sex, written by Dr. Alex Comfort, was published in 1972. According to Penguin Random House, this global bestseller “dared to celebrate the joys of human physical intimacy with such authority and candor that an entire generation felt empowered.” Enjoy sex. ”

“The Queen pulled British veteran actor Brian Blessed aside during a reception at Buckingham Palace after he blurted out the F-word during a racy talk on BBC television,” Andersen said. “‘That was an interesting story, Mr. Brest,’ said Her Majesty. ‘What I want to tell you is that the word ‘f—‘ is an Anglo-Saxon word. It means “spread the world.” Seed. ‘”

Andersen also noted that the Queen’s comical personality will sometimes shine through in her public appearances.

“At one point, a group of tourists didn’t recognize Queen Elizabeth II and asked if they had met the Queen,” Andersen said. “‘No,’ she replied, pointing to a Royal Guard standing nearby, ‘but this officer does that.'”

British royal expert Hilary Fordwich Philip told Fox News Digital that he wasn’t shy about expressing his thoughts to the queen when it came to colorful language.

“When they were in their 20s, Philip and young Princess Elizabeth spent their summer holidays in Scotland, of course throughout their lives,” she said. “Specifically, King Charles’ new home in Birkhall, Scotland. They loaded their staff into the back of a shooting brake and drove to Balmoral.”

“According to John Gibson, who was serving in the army at the time, Philip was ‘driving like a madman on country roads,'” Ms Fordwich said. “Princess Elizabeth would beg him to slow down. ‘Philip, Philip, for God’s sake slow down, you’re going to kill all the rabbits. What’s going on?'” using offensive language. He was the only person in the world to tell her to shut up.”

And apparently the Queen sensed the need for speed from Philip.

“Former Crown Prince Abdullah of Saudi Arabia visited the Queen at Balmoral in 2003,” Fordwich said. “She offered the Crown Prince a tour of the grounds and surrounding countryside, to which he agreed… She motioned for the Crown Prince to sit in the passenger seat of her Land Rover, and, to the Prince’s horror, she was behind the wheel at a time when women were not allowed to drive in Saudi Arabia.

“With her impressive driving skills, honed during training in the Auxiliary Territorial Services during World War II, she put the pedal to the metal and startled Abdullah, who begged her to slow down as she drove through the narrow lanes.” continued Mr. Fordwich. “In the words of British diplomat Sir Sherard Cowper Coles, who reported this to the Sunday Times, she continued to chat with Abdullah, even as he implored him to pay attention to the road.” He told Coles that he had done so.

Royal expert Shannon Felton Spence told Fox News Digital that the couple left an indelible impression when President Reagan hosted them in 1983. At the time, the couple was visiting San Francisco.

Felton Spence said: “She had switched seats across the aisle with a small camera pointed at the window to take photos of the royal yacht Britannia arriving under the Golden Gate Bridge, so she was forced to sit on the plane as it circled the city.” I asked him to continue,” he said.

“On the same trip…we unexpectedly ended up sitting the Queen and Prince Philip in a big yellow school bus,” Felton-Spence said. “The Chief of Protocol apologized profusely, but the Queen and Philip were very happy as they had only seen buses like that on ‘TV’.” So they laughed and took pictures of each other on the school bus. We were taking pictures of each other. ”

“That was their dynamic. They’re the only two people in the world where they can be themselves,” Felton Spence said. “They were in love throughout their marriage.”

And just like in any marriage, the queen will be annoyed with her husband.

Royal author Ingrid Seward previously told Fox News Digital that the couple was given a rare weekend break during a royal trip to Australia in 1954. But the exhausted couple were also in the middle of filming a documentary about their visit. Frustration was growing, Seward said.

“Their tempers were very violent,” she explained. “This film crew was standing outside a small villa. The next thing they knew, Prince Philip appeared on the balcony, followed by a tennis racket and tennis shoes being thrown at his head. The Queen came out and Prince Philip Then she grabbed [Philip] Then I dragged him back inside. Of course, you can imagine how frightened this kind of difficult press secretary was at the time. ”

Mr Seward claimed that the royal press secretary had asked the crew to turn off their cameras or face arrest.

“He ran up to the film crew and said, ‘We can’t film this,'” Seward said. “‘This is a disaster. Give me some film. You weren’t meant to shoot this.'”

The film has reportedly been handed over to the Queen, Seward said. Afterwards, she came out to meet her crew and express her gratitude.

“I’m sorry it took a little while,” she reportedly said. “But you know, that happens in every marriage, right?”

Like Fordwich, Seward said that Philip was “pretty harsh with his wife.”

“He was driving at top speed everywhere, which would have made her very nervous,” Seward explained. “So she started taking deep breaths. Then he said to her, ‘If you keep breathing like that, I’m going to take you out of the car.’ The person sitting next to her said, ‘Why don’t you press charges against him? There was a time when I said, “Is that so?” She said, “Because he would stop the car and kick me out!”

“But the Queen [would give] “He called her a terrible fool and accused her of talking nonsense. And while he tries to understand what she’s saying, she speaks like a riddle.”
