After Prince William inherited the title of Duke of Cornwall from his father, King Charles, he fired Annabel Elliott, the interior designer and sister of Queen Camilla.
The 42-year-old Prince of Wales received his shiny new title and inherited his father’s Duchy of Cornwall, a title worth more than $1 billion. Ascended to the throne September 2022.
The prince took the 75-year-old Elliott off the payroll as one of his first acts as owner of the luxury estate. Telegraph I will report.
For the past 20 years, Camilla’s sister has earned a steady, healthy income from her interior design services for the royal family.
She was first hired by then-Prince Charles after marrying Camilla in 2005, to be the lead designer of his homes.
Since then, Elliott has made hundreds of thousands of dollars from his own work, which includes designing dukedom villas and redecorating properties in Cornwall, Wales and the Isles of Scilly.
Earlier this week, a palace source confirmed to the outlet that Prince William had decided to terminate Elliott’s employment, but stressed that it did not indicate any resentment or unhappiness with her work.
of Integrated Annual ReportThe report, released on Wednesday, details how Mr Elliott was paid amounts varying from $25,000 to $105,000 “within the ordinary course of business and on fair terms” to maintain royal rental properties and dukedom offices.
According to the report, Elliott received reimbursements of between $9,000 and $116,000 each year for the purchase of furniture, decorations and retail inventory.
She has also been hired to oversee the renovation of a 20-room pub at the Kings Poundbury development in Dorset, southern England, and the guest lodge at Dumfries House in Ayrshire, Scotland.
But despite her extensive work with the royal family, an official report on Wednesday revealed that Ms Elliott will not be paid between 2023 and 2024, for the first time in nearly two decades.
Instead, the report repeats the previous year, including expenditure for the six months before Charles became monarch.
The report also revealed Prince William’s astonishing income, revealing that the heir to the throne will receive $30 million from his estate in the 2023-2024 financial year.
But despite his impressive income, Prince William has refused to reveal how much tax he pays, breaking with a tradition followed for more than three decades by his father, King Charles.
