The tension surrounding Prince William and Meghan Markle appears to be a significant hurdle in his attempt to mend his relationship with his brother, Prince Harry.
Reports indicate that Prince William, now 43, hasn’t heard from Harry, who is younger, in over two years. Their relationship has deteriorated further, particularly since Harry and Meghan have revealed numerous details about royal life aimed at financial gain.
After the Duke and Duchess of Sussex exposed royal secrets, William seems to have drawn a line, opting not to reopen communication. Royal commentator Ingrid Seward suggests it’s a matter of trust—deep issues exist that complicate any potential reconciliation.
“The real sticking point is Meghan,” Seward noted in a conversation. “Many royalists in the UK are not fond of her. They perceive her as harmful to the institution.”
“I think there’s a similar sentiment in America,” she continued. “It’s concerning that Meghan seems to have disrupted her husband’s family while also distancing herself from her own.”
Additionally, Seward highlighted Meghan’s ongoing estrangement from her father, Thomas Markle Sr., especially after he suffered a stroke in 2022. Remarkably, he hasn’t met his grandson yet.
“It’s shocking that her children haven’t had the chance to see their grandfather,” she mentioned, reflecting on societal views. “People find that odd, and it raises questions about Meghan’s character. It’s hard to believe she could alienate her own family, considering how much her actions have impacted Harry too.”
As recent insider reports indicated, both brothers are currently charting “separate paths.” Robert Lacey, author of “The Battle of Brothers,” emphasized the depth of their rift, suggesting that reconciliation hinges on Harry taking responsibility and apologizing.
It’s been said that Harry’s attempts to reach out to William, through calls and texts, have gone unanswered.
Seward concluded that William is firmly maintaining his distance from the Sussexes, though Harry feels that his brother was dismissive toward Meghan during their time in the royal family.
“Harry believes William insulted Meghan,” she stated. “It creates a very challenging dynamic, especially with this kind of hostility lingering. As of now, there doesn’t seem to be any path to resolution.”
