In the three years since Charles III ascended to the throne, he has encountered various personal, professional, and public challenges. Meanwhile, royal experts suggest that Prince William is subtly pushing for a more contemporary approach within the royal family.

This year, Prince William openly expressed in an interview that he aims to avoid repeating his parents’ mistakes. As he looks toward 2024, he recognizes his duty to usher in a new generation for the monarchy, proudly sharing that he’s “trying to do things differently.”

Royal commentator Hilary Fordwich noted that King Charles may be “somewhat resentful” of William’s emphasis on family matters, preferring his eldest son to focus on establishing a significant global political legacy. “Prince William is genuinely dedicated to modernizing the monarchy, and many of the subtle shifts we may overlook are vital for its future relevance,” Fordwich shared.

After undergoing surgery for an enlarged prostate, Charles revealed a cancer diagnosis, which forced him to step back from several public duties.
