Priscilla Presley Reflects on Elvis and Robert Kardashian
Priscilla Presley has opened up about her past relationships, specifically regarding her late ex-husband, Elvis Presley, and her subsequent romance with Robert Kardashian, who passed away in 2003 after battling cancer. In her latest book, “Gently, When I Leave You: Life After Elvis,” the 80-year-old actress shares insights from her life following her divorce from the iconic rock star in 1973.
Priscilla began dating Kardashian in the mid-’70s, shortly after her split from Elvis. Despite their brief romance, she reminisced about how Elvis’s reaction could have been explosive if he had known about Robert’s presence in her life. “He would have probably been ballistic if he had known Robert was in my bedroom, literally,” she revealed. According to her, Elvis was known to keep firearms around, which added to the tension.
Interestingly, she mentioned that Elvis was unaware of her relationship with Kardashian during their time together. In a light-hearted yet serious tone, she pointed out that even around her lawyers, Elvis would call in the early hours without anyone realizing Robert was there.
Though Priscilla had genuine affection for Kardashian, she cited his demanding career as a lawyer—characterized by long hours—as a reason their relationship didn’t last. “Robert was a sweet guy and I liked him,” she reflected, but it just seemed that their lives were in different places.
Post their breakup, Priscilla and Kardashian maintained an amicable relationship. He later married Kris Jenner in 1978, and their family grew to include four children, including Kim Kardashian. Priscilla recalled her fond memories of Robert, stating, “He is a kind man, and I remember him with great affection.” They had a final conversation before his passing, which she cherishes.
Looking back at her own family, Priscilla shared that her marriage to Elvis produced one child, Lisa Marie Presley, who unfortunately passed away in January 2023. She reflected on the impact of family tragedies, noting that after her son Benjamin took his own life in 2020, Lisa Marie felt a profound sense of despair.
Lisa Marie had four children of her own, including twins Harper and Finley. Priscilla’s reflections seem to encompass not just memories of past relationships but also the deep connections and losses within her family, revealing the complexities of love and loss over time.
As she discusses these moments, it’s clear that Priscilla has gained a wealth of experience and perspective, illustrating how intertwined our relationships often are, even across time and circumstance.
