Priscilla Presley's son, Navarron Garcia, was spending $3,000 a month on fentanyl until his mother helped him become the latest member of his famous family to die while battling addiction.
Frontman of rock band Them Guns, 36 years old told the sun He first tried heroin at age 17, and by age 29 he was addicted to fentanyl, which is 50 times more powerful.
“I don't know how this happened, but all the heroin in the United States now has fentanyl in it. So I didn't realize I was doing fentanyl,” he said. said the rocker, who lost his half-sister Lisa Marie Presley a year ago after a long battle with abuse.
“Then all of a sudden I was addicted to fentanyl.”
Unlike heroin, which can take hours between hits, “with fentanyl you have to do it every 45 minutes or you get sick,” Garcia said.
“So it ended up being very expensive.
“I was spending $3,000 a month on fentanyl. It was unbearable,” he said.
“I don't recommend it to anyone because it's very deadly. If you don't have resistance, you die first. So it's a scary, scary thing.”
Garcia believes he would have died from synthetic opioids if it weren't for his mother. Her mother was put on various drugs by Elvis Presley during her marriage, but she managed to avoid addiction.
“I went to my mom's house for about three weeks to a month to recover from the problem,” Garcia said. Garcia's father is Brazilian film producer Marco Garibaldi, and she was with Priscilla for 21 years.
“I felt bad. I was no good. She helped me do everything.”
Garcia's half-sister, Lisa Marie Presley, went to rehab five times to kick her addiction to cocaine and opioids before her death last January. A 54-year-old man went into cardiac arrest after weight loss surgery.
Her son Benjamin also tried rehab for drug and alcohol issues before committing suicide in 2020 at the age of 27.
Most notably, Lisa Marie's father Elvis died in 1977 at the age of 42 with 14 different drugs in his system.
