Pritzker: “In President Trump’s head, I’m living rent-free”
Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker reacted to recent immigration raids by the Trump administration in Chicago. He expressed his belief in a “special report” that both the federal and local authorities need to take action against criminals directly on the streets.
Recently, Pritzker has also shown strong support for Lt. Gov. Juliana Stratton’s U.S. Senate bid, contributing a substantial $5 million to the Illinois Future PAC as she gears up for next month’s Democratic primary.
This contribution, highlighted in campaign finance reports on the Federal Election Commission website, has played a major role in the super PAC’s fundraising, of which nearly all of the $6.3 million raised last year was sourced from Pritzker and his family, including over $1 million from his cousin, Jennifer Pritzker.
The Illinois primary for the Senate seat is set for March 17.
During a debate held in late January that included Stratton, as well as Democratic Representatives Raja Krishnamoorthy and Robin Kelly, various subjects were discussed, including their support for Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer if they were elected. Krishnamoorthy seemed uncertain, stating that he would listen to Schumer’s input before making a decision. Kelly mentioned his support would depend on the opponent, while Stratton clearly stated her opposition to Schumer, emphasizing her willingness to break from party lines.
Stratton secured Pritzker’s endorsement in April to run for the seat vacated by Sen. Dick Durbin, who plans to step down after this term.
Interestingly, Krishnamoorthi, currently a frontrunner among Democratic candidates, has already spent around $20.5 million on television advertising since July, amassing quite the war chest, as per data from AdImpact.
