Private Jet Crash at Bangor International Airport
A private jet, linked to a Texas law firm, encountered a serious accident late Sunday night at Bangor International Airport in Maine.
The Bombardier Challenger 600, owned by KTKJ Challenger LLC, was carrying eight individuals when it crashed shortly after takeoff, around 7:45 p.m. Following the incident, the airport was temporarily shut down.
“The aircraft crashed under unclear circumstances while departing, flipped over, came to rest, and ignited,” a local report stated.
This mishap coincided with a winter storm that blanketed the area in heavy snow.
According to Steve Robinson, Editor-in-Chief of MainWire, the plane’s ownership traces back to a prominent lawyer known for opposing certain immigration policies and the Trump administration.
Robinson revealed that KTKJ Challenger LLC is registered to Jason Itkin and Kurt Arnold, two Texas trial attorneys recognized for their advocacy against conservative policies and for undocumented individuals.
The firm, previously known as Arnold & Itkin LLP, boasted achievement in securing significant settlements for undocumented workers, claiming to have set records in that area. They were also noted as considerable donors to progressive political action groups during the last election cycle.
The preliminary crash report from the Federal Aviation Administration indicated that, unfortunately, at least seven passengers lost their lives, and one crew member sustained serious injuries. The identities of those aboard have not yet been disclosed.
The FAA’s summary noted, “The aircraft crashed under unknown circumstances upon departure, rolled over, and caught fire.”
The National Transportation Safety Board is currently examining the incident. A preliminary report detailing possible causes is expected to be published within the next month.
Meanwhile, Bangor International Airport remains closed, leading to numerous flight cancellations and diversions. Travelers are urged to check with their airlines regarding adjustments to their plans.
As of now, Arnold and Itkin have not responded to requests for further information.
