“We have spent the last 24 hours trying to come to terms with the fact that our son is gone. It is surreal and a nightmare to have to admit this not only to ourselves but to the world,” Murray’s parents said in a statement released by the PGA Tour. “There are so many unanswered questions, but one: Was Grayson loved? The answer is yes – loved by us, his brother Cameron, his sister Erica, all of our extended family, friends, fellow players and, apparently, many of you reading this.”
“We are grateful for the overwhelming support we have received from the PGA Tour and the golf community at large. Life hasn’t always been easy for Grayson, and although he took his own life, we know he is now resting peacefully.”

Murray caught the golfing world’s attention at an early age when he made his first cut on the developmental Korn Ferry Tour at just 16 years old, and went on to win three consecutive Junior World Championships from 2006-2008.
He turned professional in 2015 and has won twice on the PGA Tour, his first in 2017, and reached a career-high 46th in the world rankings this most recent season.
Murray’s caddie, Jay Green, said he was heartbroken by the death of his friend, adding: “He truly would have done anything for anyone. He had the best family and my heart goes out to them. We will all miss him deeply.”
