On Thursday afternoon, more than a dozen pro-Palestinian demonstrators were arrested at the Russell Senate Building.
Pro-Palestinian demonstrators could be heard repeatedly chanting “We demand a permanent ceasefire” in the Rotunda of Government Buildings next to the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C.

“No, I can’t hear you,” the reporter replied, before protesters could be heard shouting, “We want dignity, not inhumanity” and “Food, not bombs.”

“We are Christians calling for a ceasefire,” they shouted.
Approximately 13 protesters were arrested, according to the U.S. Capitol Police (USCP).

Authorities said they first warned demonstrators waving placards reading “ceasefire now” that they would be arrested if they did not stop demonstrating.
Although the majority of the protesters began their protest, approximately 13 remained and were quickly arrested by USCP.

Photos from the scene showed one of the protesters being escorted out of the Rotunda by USCP officers.
Police used zip ties to restrain the protesters.

USCP said the arrested protesters were charged with DC Code § 22-1307 – Crowding, Obstruction, or Failure to Accommodate.
The protests highlight the growing hostility President Biden faces within his own party from demonstrators calling for a ceasefire in Gaza.

Recent fox news poll It found that support for the Palestinians among Democrats has increased by 17 points since October.
These changes within the Democratic Party mean the partisan divide is even more pronounced now (43% pro-Israel vs. 42% pro-Palestinian) than it was in October (59% vs. 25%).
