Pro-Palestinian protestors gather at White House

Pro-Palestinian protesters gathered at the White House on Saturday to protest President Biden’s handling of Israel’s war with the Palestinian militant group Hamas.

“#ThePeoplesRedLine is forming right now at the White House!” a Saturday post from the Act Now to Stop War and End Racism (ANSWER) coalition on social platform X read. read.

“This giant red flag stretching for two miles symbolizes the people’s determination to end the US and Israeli genocide in Gaza! If Biden won’t draw the red line, we will!”

The ANSWER Coalition post also included a video of a large line of people outside the White House appearing to hold up a long red cloth.

An Instagram post from activist group Palestinian Youth Movement less than a week ago discussed “surrounding the White House on Saturday, June 8th.”

“A month ago, Mr Biden said the invasion of Rafah was a red line that should not be crossed,” the post read. read“But now, with the invasion of Rafah continuing for weeks and spreading across the Gaza Strip, Biden’s red lines are nowhere to be seen. Far from halting military aid to Israel, Biden has approved billions of dollars more in arms shipments to murder and slaughter Palestinians.”

In a later post, the president said he “still refuses to take steps to force the Israeli regime to accept, cut off the flow of American-made weapons that enable genocide.”

“Biden hasn’t drawn the lines, but we can,” the post read. “On June 8th, we will come together from across the country and surround the White House. We will wear red, hold our demands high, and show the world that we are the red line. We demand an immediate ceasefire, an immediate end to the blockade of Gaza, the release of all Palestinian prisoners, and an end to the occupation of Palestine.”

The council has contacted the U.S. Park Police and the White House.
