Retired Professor Charged with Murdering His Wife

A former mathematics professor has been arrested for allegedly killing his wife, who worked as a meteorologist for an airline.

Authorities reported that police responded to a residence in Fair Oaks, Virginia, where they found 60-year-old Chisen Jameson suffering from a gunshot wound. Prior to the shooting, she called 911, and during that call, officers noted hearing what sounded like gunfire in the background, according to police.

Leland Jameson, aged 64, faces charges of second-degree murder and using a firearm during the commission of a felony. He previously taught at George Mason University and holds a Ph.D. from Brown University.

Interestingly, Leland called 911 himself to report a domestic incident with his wife, expressing uncertainty about the severity of her injuries.

Officials mentioned that several firearms were discovered inside their home.

Chisen Jameson held a position as a meteorologist for Japan’s All Nippon Airways at Dulles Airport. In a statement, the airline expressed its sorrow over her passing, describing her as a valued member of their team whose loss deeply affects all who knew her.

The couple had two adult sons, both residing in Northern Virginia.
