Randy Quaid Critiques Anne Hathaway’s Casting in “Days of Thunder 2”
Actor Randy Quaid expressed his strong disapproval of Anne Hathaway being cast in “Days of Thunder 2” through a series of critical posts on X on August 29.
Quaid, known for his role as car owner Tim Daland in the 1990 original film, believes Hathaway doesn’t resonate with the franchise’s fanbase. He stated, “Anne Hathaway is a leftist, woke, horrible choice for DAYS OF THUNDER NASCAR audience who are MAGA.”
He further suggested that the ideal actress for Tom’s love interest should be Nicole Kidman, claiming that this casting would better sell the film.
In one post, he noted, “It’s interesting because when we made the first one there was also a rush to get it out; editors slept in the cutting room on shifts.” He added, “This is a weird thing, like they want it to come out and tank.”
In another post that same day, Quaid said, “If I were in control of production, a real sequel worth watching for DAYS OF THUNDER would be seeing Tom and Nicole together on screen again.” He argued for a new race car instead of focusing on new female leads, insisting, “We need Nicole back. Don’t be a p—y, @TomCruise.”
Quaid continued to make his point clear: “You need the original girl. It’s not personal; it’s filmmaking. Anne isn’t sexy, because if you haven’t noticed, she’s pregnant.”
This outburst came shortly after Cruise and Hathaway had shared a promotional video announcing Hathaway’s casting in the film. The original “Days of Thunder” featured Cruise alongside Kidman and Robert Duvall.
