Contentious Discussion on Political Ideology Following Assassination
Ana Kasparian, co-host of “Young Turkish,” expressed her disapproval of the leftist streamer, describing it as representing “our worst” during a recent broadcast. This came after the streamer declined to condemn the assassination of Charlie Kirk, founder of Turning Point USA.
Piers Morgan, host of “Piers Morgan Uncensored,” referenced remarks from Utah Republican Governor Spencer Cox, who discussed the investigation into Kirk’s assassin, Tyler Robinson. Cox indicated that Robinson appeared to be influenced by leftist ideology, a point supported by Kristen Welker from “Meet the Press.” Meanwhile, YouTube streamer Steven Kenneth Bonnell II, known as “Destiny,” has suspended Morgan from his platform. A related comment after Kirk’s assassination suggested a need for self-reflection, according to Governor Cox.
“No, no, that’s incorrect,” Morgan said, addressing Destiny. “You might not want to hear it, but it’s clear he’s radicalized by leftist ideology that compelled him to kill Charlie Kirk.”
Destiny, however, insisted, “That’s not true.”
After Governor Cox confirmed Robinson’s arrest on Friday, he mentioned that “Bellachao” was inscribed on one of the bullet casings. This song is a well-known anthem among Italian leftist factions that opposed Mussolini’s regime.
During the discussion, Morgan posed a question to Destiny about assigning blame if the assassin had leftist motivations: “Are you saying the governor is lying? If it turns out his ideologies played a role, would you assign blame?” Destiny replied, “I can’t blame anyone until the president comments, and then we should all calm down.”
To this, Morgan countered, questioning, “You won’t blame Kirk’s murder until Trump says something?” He added, “You can point fingers at climate or frustrations for ten years, yet Donald Trump has the platform to speak on this.”
Kasparian interjected, asking why Destiny’s stance seemed dependent on Trump, clarifying that the president is the leader of opposing parties.
As the exchange continued, she noted Destiny’s influence, saying, “You have a significant audience, so you bear some responsibility for your voice.” To which Destiny replied, “That’s not fair.” Kasparian shot back, “I genuinely care about the nation and seek unity. You appear to be promoting our worst aspects, Destiny.”
This isn’t the first time Morgan has confronted Destiny; previously, they debated concerning threats of violence towards Donald Trump.
In a separate topic, Destiny and Morgan also chatted about comments from streamers on X that suggested divine responsibility for deaths related to a recent flood in Texas.
