The former law partner and close friend of Dennis Prince, the prominent Las Vegas lawyer who was shot and killed along with his wife in his law office, has shared new details about the tragic killing with Fox News Digital.
Robert Egret, who heads Egret Adams’ clinical trial team in Las Vegas, said he has been close friends with Dennis and his family for more than 30 years.
He said he was “stunned” when he heard the news. He said Joe Huston, the lawyer accused of committing the heinous crime, was told earlier this week that he was terminally ill and dying of cancer.
“Joe told me shortly before the shooting that he had terminal cancer and was dying. I wonder if he felt like he had nothing to lose, but really… I don’t understand. I can’t make sense of all of this,’” Eaglet said.

Houston was reportedly representing his son in a custody battle between him and Dennis Prince’s wife Ashley Prince. As FOX5 Vegas first reported, Ashley Prince was Houston’s former stepdaughter.
Houston allegedly pulled out a gun during a deposition Monday at Prince Law Group. He allegedly shot and killed Dennis Prince and Ashley Prince, then turned the gun on himself.
“I’m just devastated, just stunned. It’s hard to stay sane about this,” Egret told Fox News Digital.
Egret said Dennis is the father of three children and that he and Ashley have a six-month-old baby together.

“You know, it’s really tragic and I can’t even describe it in words. He’s been one of my best friends for over 30 years and my business partner for over 10 years,” Egret said.
Houston’s family released a statement to FOX 5 Las Vegas asking the public to wait until police have completed their investigation before making any decisions.
A family spokesperson said: “Our family is deeply shocked and saddened by yesterday’s events. We ask for prayers and privacy as we move through the days ahead.” “The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department is still investigating, and speculation about the details of the incident will only further traumatize an already grieving and devastated family. We have full confidence in Metro’s efforts. We will defer all further comment to Metro as their investigation unfolds. ”
Egret went on to tell Fox News Digital that this tragedy has left many in the legal community shaken and devastated.
“Knowing that a co-worker shot him, his ex-daughter-in-law, and his own son, and I know everyone involved, this was very out of line for Joe.” Mr. Eaglet explained.
Egret said she and Dennis both grew up in Las Vegas, and Dennis left a lasting impact on the community.
“We both grew up in Las Vegas, we both worked in Las Vegas, and he was a leader in the community and one of the best trial lawyers in the state of Nevada. On Monday night, Prince Law Group released a statement regarding the shooting.
“With deep sadness, Prince Law Group would like to thank everyone who has reached out to us with messages of heartfelt concern and sympathy regarding the tragic incident of violence that occurred at our office this morning. Please respect the privacy of his family,” the statement read.
The Clark County Coroner’s Office has not yet officially identified the shooting victim.

Las Vegas police confirmed the shooting but provided few specific details.
