Prominent New York attorney killed in freak skiing accident

The founder and CEO of a well-known law firm was murdered in a ski accident at a New York-based ski resort, with police and his company announced on Sunday.

According to a statement from Colwell Law Group, Kevin Colwell, 53, founder and CEO of Colwell Law Group's Albany Law Offices, died in a skiing accident at Gore Mountain Ski Resort in No Creek, New York.

“This is a huge tragedy for all of us at Colwell Law Group. Kevin built a family as well as a business. The loss of his existence felt deeply felt by all who have the privilege to work with him. “We will,” Jennifer Stevens, Chief Operating Officer of Colwell Law Group, wrote a statement on the company's Facebook page.

The accident occurred around 11am on February 8th when a state police officer in Chestertown was called to the resort to report an injured skier. According to a statement from the New York State Police.

The seriously injured skier, identified as Colwell, was found in the Sagamore Trail area, police said.

Officials said that while bystanders and ski patrol staff tried all available lifesaving measures, despite their efforts, Colwell was declared dead at the scene.
