Prosecutors File Charges Against Two Following Discovery of 21 Dead Dogs at Boarding Facility

Charges Filed After 21 Dogs Found Dead in New York Boarding Facility

Prosecutors have charged the owners of a dog boarding facility in Argyle, New York, after 21 deceased dogs were discovered on the premises.

Robert and Anastasia Pallis, the owners of Anastasia Acres, face 22 misdemeanors. Court documents indicate that authorities alleged the facility lacked proper ventilation and water. The couple is accused of offenses including animal cruelty, which encompasses injury, torture, and failing to provide necessary nutrition according to New York State law.

The Washington County Sheriff’s Office reported that first responders were dispatched to Anastasia Acres after receiving reports about the dead animals. Sheriff Jeffrey Murphy confirmed that 21 dogs were found dead, and one surviving dog was taken to an emergency clinic for treatment.

“The owner of Anastasia Acres is cooperating with the sheriff’s office during the investigation. Veterinarians are assisting investigators and supporting animal control officials,” the statement from the sheriff’s office noted.

Anastasia Acres has been providing services such as boarding, grooming, daycare, training, and home care for dogs since 2020. However, the facility’s website was inaccessible during inquiries, indicating it was down for maintenance.

Attempts to get a comment from the Pallis couple were unsuccessful. They’ve been released but are expected to appear in Argyle Court in the future.

Daniel Barber, who reportedly had two dogs die, expressed his heartbreak over the situation. He noted he hadn’t heard from the facility’s owners since the incident occurred.

“Their house is literally just 30 feet from where the dogs were kept,” Barber remarked. “It’s hard to believe no one was checking on them, especially if there were dogs in distress.”

The sheriff’s office has urged community members with any pertinent information to come forward.
