Protester Accuses Sydney Sweeney of Racism at 'Americana' Premiere

Controversy Surrounds Sidney Sweeney’s Recent Ad Campaign

Sidney Sweeney experienced a surprising moment during the premiere of her latest film, Americana, on Sunday. While heading to a popular dessert spot in Hollywood, she was heckled by a woman who shouted, “Stop the ads that are racist!” Although Sweeney reportedly ignored the outburst, it created quite a stir.

As the night wore on, Sweeney was still featured in the American Eagle ads, smiling for photos alongside co-stars Halsey, Simon Rex, and director Tony Tost.

This week, Breitbart News highlighted the backlash against Sweeney’s appearance in an American Eagle ad that played on words with “jeans” and “genes.” Some online activists claimed the ad’s messaging bore a resemblance to Nazi propaganda.

One TikTok user, heavily tattooed and covered in piercings, went as far as to declare the ads “in a history book,” accusing them of promoting Nazi ideology. Another commenter labeled Sweeney’s participation as being involved in an “Eugenics Advertisement” while accusing American Eagle of fostering a fascist agenda and trying to “revive the Third Reich.”

Additionally, a left-wing influencer, also adorned with a nose ring, suggested the ad was aimed at marginalizing women of color.

Media outlets have since fanned the flames, describing the ad as “controversial” and even labeling it as part of a “cultural change to whiteness.” White House communications manager Stephen Chang attributed the backlash to factors that influenced Trump’s electoral success in 2024, stating that many Americans are “fed up with this nonsense.” He added, “Cancel culture runs rampant, and this warped liberal thinking has significantly impacted how voters responded.”

Despite the uproar, Sweeney has remained silent, and American Eagle continues to support the original ad without any public apologies. Interestingly, reports have surfaced indicating that Sweeney has been a registered Republican in Florida since 2024, a detail she hasn’t confirmed or denied.

In a separate conversation with reporters, President Trump shared his reaction to rumors about Sweeney’s political affiliation. “That’s something I didn’t know, but I’m glad you told me. If Sydney Sweeney is a registered Republican, then I think her ads are great,” he stated.
